2016 NHPC Fun Day Wrap Up!

RICKY DAVIDGE rather smug after winning his round of the Dolly Parton Race!

I was so pleased to see so many out having fun on our last event for the year.  It was a wonderful way to finish it all off with a few laughs.  The weather held up for us and I hope you all enjoyed your day.

Thankyou so much to all the timekeepers and canteen ladies on the day – as usual it is impossible to do any event without these volunteers and it was a tad warm standing out in the sun :(

Thankyou to Susan Hennessy with the wonderful thought out obstacle course.  A REALLY BIGthankyou to #Garrards for the vouchers for our champions and #BIDVEST for the bag of goodies, apples for kids and carrots for the horses :)  We were also donated some hats, stubby coolers and mugs from RTA - Road train Australia – Thankyou the kids loved their little goody bags!

Our champions!

LEAD LINE -  We had a tie -  MARLI MURRIHY AND CHELSEA DAVIDGE

6-9YRS – LILLY HENNESSY

10-11 YRS – ALIA SCHMIDT

12-13YRS – MADDY BUSSY

14-17YRS – MADDISON VINEY

18YRS AND OVER – had another tie RICKY DAVIDGE AND MICHAELA BUTT

Was great to see everyone riding together we had from leadline right up to our coaches out there mingling – a few water balloons being thrown around and a few smiles aswell :)

Don’t forget our up and coming AGM and presentations on the 23rd October at the Free Spirit Resort – the kids can have a swim while the AGM is on and then we will have presentations – We will have light refreshments available – we cannot supply food or drinks from outside source but there is a bar for purchase of drinks and food available for purchase as well.

See you all at the AGM / Presentations!

Regards

Leanne

NHPC Wrap Up!

Well where do I start? :) What an awesome bunch we had this year - I think I will start with our thankyou's!

Candice McDonald - Did anyone get a picture of Candice running around on that tiny little bike - zipping around everywhere and being 3 months pregnant and queasy? :) what a champ! Thankyou so much for organising the coaches, program and jumping castle, craft and everything in between - YOUR A LEGEND!!!

Coaches - Our two interstate coaches Fiona Fehlburg - thanks Fiona once again for your cross country adventures and Clem Smith thankyou so much for your jumping adventures - I do believe these two had to deal with quite a few frisky horses and some gutsy riders but all went well.  And of course our wonderful local coaches who gave up their time to join our camp and teach - Vanessa Lines (Jumping ) , Brian Davidge ( horse ball and lead line) , Natasha Clayton (horse ball and lead line )  , Priscilla Leeson (barrels and horsemanship ), Jenny Jones ( Dressage) , Sandy Wooderson ( Lead line) , Ashley Driver (lead line helper ) Sophie Cleveland (lead line trail rider ).

Sponsors

#PCANT helped financially, helping us with airfares for our interstate coaches - Thankyou so much PCANT.

Bees Creek Primary School - Donated some of our craft materials which was a huge hit and a huge mess :)

Humpty Doo Butchers - Donated a $50 voucher for a raffle which we will be selling tickets for so keep an eye out for this raffle :)

Freds pass reserve - grounds were amazing - cleaned up around our cross country jumps and made our stay very pleasant with the beautiful kept grounds - we are so very very lucky to have these premises to ride on!

PoloX - A HUGE thankyou for the lend of your stables, and clubhouse its a great area to have our camp and this is so so very appreciated!

Darwin Castles and Slides - Jump castle - Gave us a very generous discount on the castle and it was a huge hit so this will have to be a new fixture to camp I am thinking :)

Saddleworld NT - Lancia gave us a super, super discount on our prizes so make sure you thank her next time in the shop (which I am sure will be soon with all our shows coming up ).

I hope I have remembered everyone :)

Campers and riders - Well what can I say - I was so proud of all our kids - I reckon its the best camp with  behavior and helpers - I saw all the kids with big smiles and all getting along very well even on the last day which can be tricky with exhaustion kicking in - I have spoken to Freds Pass Reserve and they are impressed on how clean we left the facilities, stables, indoor arena and camp area - SO a big thankyou to you all.  Pack up this year was so much better and appreciate this very much .

Kitchen - Thankyou to everyone that helped we catered for 120 people this year and that is a huge effort with one stove and one BBQ - I not only had the rostered people on but had people just coming in and giving a hand when they could - so thankyou very much!

Extra meals - there are a few people that were going to pay for extra meals. If you could send an email and I can give you bank details to deposit this - if you had kids or husband dropping in for a meal there was a few there that didn't pay so this would be appreciated so that we can offer this next year as I know sometimes its difficult to know when family may visit - so I do allocate extra for this as a help to you all but if not used properly we may need to cancel this next year and be fixed on numbers.

Stables - I think would be our only downfall to the start of camp but I think all got sorted out - The general rule is that you cannot put a rug, bucket, name tag or anything on the stables to Barr them :) Camp will start and will simply be when you arrive with your horse you then pick a stable and set your horse up - we had people moving peoples equipment and borrowing buckets etc so just need to be mindful of this - but this of course this will be something to learn from for our next camp and see if we can run this side of things better :)

Feedback - We would love any feed back - even constructive criticism as this is how we learn to run the event better each year. We took in last years suggestions and hoped that worked  - Just need to remember its not rally days so groups are picked more for groups of friends not always ability.

Well I think that's long enough - thankyou , thankyou everyone for making 2016 #NHPC Camp such a success and thankyou for enjoying your stay its such an awesome experience to see so many kids having so much fun  :)  Bring on 2017 Camp!

NHPC Practice Evenings - Commencing this July!

The #NHPC Committee and your wonderful president (shout out to Leanne here!) are always looking to provide members with as many opportunities as possible. For that very reason, Leanne will be implementing Training/Fun Practice Evenings commencing on the 5th of July 2016 for our Riding members.

Here is the run-down!

The "Fun evenings" are going to run for a trial period of 3 months - It costs $2.00 per rider and we are starting on the Tuesday nights as Monday and Wednesday #Fred'sPass have the big sprinklers out so at this stage- we will be on the lower end of the main oval near clubhouse as the dogs will be setting up their equipment the other end of the arena - we need to share the oval and be courteous to the Dog behavioral group.

Kick off is on the 5th July and there are conditions but also a great opportunity to come and have a play -  and enjoy some social time with other club members.  Rally days and competitions are usually pretty full on so this is a chance to get to know other members and even ride with your kids.  Organise between you all and set up a small jump coarse or set up the dressage arena or just practice your bending skills

CONDITIONS (this is a new activity so rules and regulations may change as we progress

  • You need to be a #NHPC Riding Member (not just a member - you have to have paid your insurance)
  • PARENTS or GUARDIANS  you are responsible for your child - this is not a lesson but an opportunity to have some fun with our equipment and practice their skills - you cannot drop your child off and leave.
  • no structured lessons organised by NHPC at this stage
  • you get the gear out - you put it away!
  • Leanne will be there to get whatever trailer is needed out.
  • You need to have your gear checked before you get on the horse by the NHPC representative (person running the evening)
  • You need to be marked on the the attendance roll.
  • It costs $2.00 each week
  • if you are going to use this opportunity to have a private lesson by your nominated coach - you need to pay the $2.00 for the coach as well - think this is fair as you are using the equipment as part of your lesson - your coach cannot be on a horse if not a NHPC riding member and the coach needs to be signed in as well - but otherwise welcome to use this as a great opportunity

If you have any questions don't hesitate to call Leanne on 0412636659.

Looks like fun, huh?! :D

UPDATE: Fiona Fehlberg Clinic Price Reduction!!!

The AMAZING #FionaFehlberg has graciously dropped her lesson price to make the clinic more affordable to riders and their families. Please see the updated Application Form

We are hugely lucky and proud to offer not only our riders, but everyone else the opportunity to host a Riders Clinic with #FionaFehlberg in June!

The Clinic will run from the 25th - 27th of June.

Fiona Fehlberg has been a regular Instructor to Darwin plus has also been officiating at a number of recent Dressage Competitions in the NT. Her first-hand knowledge of our extreme climate will be an added advantage for this clinic.

“I've been riding since I can remember. In my earlier years I competed in showjumping, eventing, showing and dressage. My eventing dressage scores were pretty awful so I decided I needed to concentrate on dressage! I have had many coaches influence me over the years and attend clinics with Roger Fitzhardinge and our state dressage coach, Peter Fischer. My horse, Dignitary is elementary/medium but has been out with an injury - now back in work. At our recent dressage championships I rode my sister's lovely mare, LBA Zhia to win the 4yo class, reserve champion novice horse and the masters trophy for the highest percentage for a rider over 45yrs! I'm also a C level dressage judge and international showhorse judge. I have won numerous state horse of the year titles and at our recent horse of the year won small showhunter hack on LBA Zhia. I am an NCAS coach and teach at home most days. I also run an agistment centre which keeps me fairly busy.” Fiona Fehlberg

Lesson duration will be 45 mins and we are offering 5 lessons Saturday afternoon, 10 lessons each on Sunday and Monday.

 Lessons will be:

 ·       $80 each for financial riding members of the NHPC – nominations open early for NHPC members.

·       $80 each for financial riding members of a recognised NT pony club, or

·       $80 each for non-financial NT pony club members PLUS $10 day insurance fee for each day.

Please complete an Nomination Form to nominate your preferred lesson if you are interested.

End of Rally Season Wrap-up!

Hello Members :)

So sorry for my delay in my rally 10 wrap up – I can see this year is going to go very fast.  Sorry, I have a bit to say so hope you all don’t get bored reading – but here goes :D

I was so  proud of NHPC at rally 10 to see you all turn up and compete in our closed gymkana – It makes it all worth while to see you all out there riding and enjoying it.  In saying that I hope you all did enjoy the evening :)

I again want to thank our judges and stewards as it was quite warm still at 4:30 standing in the heat – ESPECIALLY the led and un-led rings you guys were in the sun so much longer!

Lisa Mutimer and Jane Spinks
Kate Middleton and Maddison Viney
Megan Holzfiend and Amanda Smart
Lorraine Davies and Karen Duminski
Nadine Ikin and Ashley Driver

Tegan was running around taking photos – which I am sorry to say is still on my camera sitting at home – so I will rectify that shortly.

Also a HUGE thankyou to Tamara Boehme and Kerry Viney for all their hard work in the canteen over the last 10 rallies and of course organising our free BBQ on rally 10 – hope you all got yourself a sausage or rissole sandwich :)

AND of course all of our members a thankyou to you all as well  - without all your help in the jobs we need doing – canteen – set up and just helping when you see help is needed we would not be able to run each event – so on behalf of the committee and of course all  the children we thank all you mums, dads and grandparents for turning up to your shifts – its so very much appreciated .

And finally – I think you will all agree with me in thanking Nicole Mutimer in organising and running our last 10 rallies – this is a huge job as you can imagine with the amount of riders we have and all the coaches needed its like running a full show 10 weeks in a row – WE thankyou ever so much and we of course are very sad to say that after 3 years of being chief instructor and many more years on the committee Nicole is stepping down from her position to concentrate on her new venture of her new business, Darwin Equestrian Accadamy – we wish you all the best and of course you realise that all this means is that you will be even more busier as now we will can get you to be coaching / judging and anything else I can think of that we can rope you into :D

Up and coming events

Freds pass show – don’t forget to get your entries in for the gymkana – the program we had for rally 10 is similar so as to give you all an idea of how a gymkana is run – the program printed in the book will be a little different as we ironed out a few wrinkles in our closed gymkana but this will be sent out to everyone – we will have new stock of our formal white shirts in very soon so they are available – we also have in stock ties as well

Fiona Fehlburg clinic – this is on the 26th and 27th June – we will send nomination forms out for this when time is closer

CAMP – don’t forget to take time off work – get your dates in quick Jcamp is the 28th 29th and 30th of june – this is a very popular activity and books out quick – Fiona fehlburg is staying as our cross country coach for the camp – a not to be missed activity J

HELP NEEDED - Just a reminder please to you all to dig deep and find some time over the Freds Pass Show to do a shift in the canteen – as its our biggest fundraiser for the year

We are also looking for stewards – we need 4 on Friday night – and 2 for Sunday morning – this is a great opportunity to shadow a judge if you are interested in judging or just a good way to find out all the tips and tricks you can learn from a judge to pass onto your kids J for next show

We will also need helpers to set up the rings

See you all at the show – our next event!
